DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES 

Under general supervision, individuals in this position will be involved in consulting with and training state and local government agencies in the management of public records, including those in digital format. The position will also collaborate with the Archival Services unit in the appraisal and acquisition of historical records. Position involves some travel.

Responsibilities for this position include: 

§ Coordinating the review and analysis of applications to establish retention schedules for public records which conform to sound records and information management practices

§ Consulting with government offices on the application of records management planning procedures and methods in state and local records programs

§ Establishing positive working relationships with state and local government agencies

§ Participating on interagency project teams and committees 

§ Participating in the development of policies and procedures for the life-cycle management of public information focusing on permanent records, including electronic records

§ Providing advisory assistance and training to clients in the creation of policies, procedures, rules, regulations and standards for the creation, maintenance, utilization, retention, preservation and disposition of records in all formats

Creates and maintains a high performance environment. Maintains a consistent, high quality, customer-focused orientation when conducting business and providing services or products to clients, the general public and other external customers. 

POSITION SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Completion of an undergraduate major in history, records management, business or public administration, management information systems, or related field at a four year college or university and one year of responsible experience which involved records management responsibilities. Excellent communication and project management skills are preferred. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
