As a US manufacturer bigot (I confess that I'm not unbiased), I almost
always prefer Kodak scanners, either flatbed, or auto-feed. They tend to
have longer service cycles, and have proven to be real workhorses for my
company.

Most definitely, The scan-care kit is well worth the money!

We have Fujitsu 4750Cs. They work well, are easy to clean and maintain. Buy
the scan-care kit. It is well worth the money.
