Dear Colleagues,

This thread has been interesting to follow and some excellent points have
been raised and also a little dirty linen hung out for inspection.

I came in late on the thread so I have had the luxury of following the
pattern of thought on this matter.

Can I suggest that upping the technology from Barcode to RFID may help?
I refer you to an article I wrote for PRISM International (Professional
Records & Information Services Management) in their publication InFOCUS
Magazine December 2004 Edition titled - How can the application of RFID
technology add value to my Records Center Operations? - February 2005.
Please Note: This article was first produced in the publication - InFOCUS
Magazine - The Quarterly Journal of PRISM International - December 2004
Edition on page (16) and is now available on this website as a part of our
agreement.
The article is available online at the Varendorff Consultancy website @

ion_of_RFID_technology
You will note that I addressed the issue of scanning the entry and exit of
objects into and out of a vehicle in the article.
In the article I state the following:
3. On transfer of the boxes to the vehicle the process of cross checking
would, or may be repeated as the vehicle would have an RFID sensor at its
entry point and a match, or mismatch of the shipment loaded would be
verified or an exception report generated.
Can I say I foresaw the potential situation and attempted to cover the bases
before it happened!
I once had a cartoon of a safe falling from a crane and the poor
unsuspecting recipient (in the next second or two) of the falling safe
making the statement: - We will make plans to prevent the next disaster as
soon as it occurs!
Happy Tape Hunting!
Regards, Laurie
