Hi all,

Just a quick note for those of you interested in the CDIA+ certification.
CompTIA has announced the availability of the beta for the CDIA+ exam, 2005
edition. It is not a complete rewrite as was the 2002 update. There have
been some changes to the objectives, including adding a couple new
objectives and clarifying some of the others. Questions have been updated to
reflect changes in technology and best practices.

The beta exam is now available through Pearson VUE and Thomson Prometric
testing centers, and will cost $75, compared with the normal exam price of
$225. The beta is currently expected to run through the end of July, with
the formal release of the updated live exam scheduled for August or
September. Those who take the exam will wait 6-8 weeks for their results;
those who achieve a passing score will receive the CDIA+ certification, and
all exam candidates will receive a 30% discount on the CompTIA Project+
exam.

The materials that are currently available will need some updating in order
to match up with the new exam. So if you are interested in taking the exam
using existing materials, you'll need to do your preparation and sit for the
exam in the next 90 days or so. If you are interested in helping to validate
the new exam - and CompTIA is looking for several hundred beta exams in
order to do so - you can do so for $75.
