Gerry,

You may want to have your friend check out something called the Simple
Records Manager.  I reviewed it for a client awhile back, and while it
didn't work for that particular situation it may just offer what your friend
is looking for.  You can check it out at http://www.recordsmanager.com/,
where you can also download a demo version for evaluation purposes
(registration is required).
