I think it depends.  If you want to become a librarian an MLIS is the way to
go.  And there may be some RM positions where having an MLIS will do.  But
CRMs are more in demand than ever before and I expect that trend to
continue.  If you consider records management as the profession you want as
a career then you are probably much better off having both.

As an aside, years ago I considered seeking an MLIS.  A friend of mine (who
has an MLIS) suggested I get my CRM first and then pursue an MBA.  This was
some of the best advice I've ever had, especially now that I am working in
the private sector.  Having both has opened up doors for me that wouldn't
have been available before.
