> What have you always wondered about?

If a person began their career in RIM, or what path they took to get there.
In many cases, this "background" info forms the basis for the salary someone
is able to negotiate in their current role, so it may have a bearing on the
data represented in the survey.

As always the information will be made available to everyone free of
> charge after the survey is complete.

And I'd be happy to post a copy of it in the RIM Resources Yahoo Group if
you'd like.

Positions - what are the titles that should appear under What is your
> present position?

What is your reporting relationship? Where someone reports in an
organization may also impact salary.
Do you manage/supervise? If yes, how many people?
If you have a staff, are they all involved in RIM functions? If not, what
other functions are you responsible for?
 >We need some industry break downs (non-profit, corporation, government
etc)
Greater detail, such as industry segment would be beneficial. Not that it's
perfect, but you may want to consider using the ARMA ISG headings as a
breakdown.

>Geography - We should break up the geography as we are asked about
>comparisons in the US. We will also include Canada, Australia and other
>nations.
For the US, it's typically broken into Regions. Again far from perfect, but
you may want to look at the ARMA Regional structure as a geographic model.

>Education, certifications and professional activity will all be
>included.
Seeing as we're beginning to experience more cross pollination from the IT
side of the house in the field, if you elect to provide a list of
certifications or associations to choose from, make sure they're room for
respondents to add "others".

>If you would like to see anything else please let me know.
Names of institutions or programs where respondents have received training,
either informal or formal
Number of hours of ongoing training respondents participate in annually
Are memberships in professional associations paid for by your employer or
yourself?
Is training funded by your employer or yourself?
Has your RIM Program grown in the past 3 years? If yes, by what percentage?
Has your RIM Program received increased funding in the past 3 years? If
yes, what percentage?
 >REMEMBER - the more responses we get for the survey the better the data
>will be so I will even take mailed copies and do the data entry myself.
I would be happy to publicize the availability of the survey on the RIM
Resources Yahoo Group and my ARMA Chapter's mailing list as well to attempt
to increase participation.
There are many members of ARMA and AIIM here that could likely do the same,
and you may get greater participation in that manner... but Ray....be
careful what you ask for!! =)

>This will be done on Survey Monkey and should appear by next week. Email
>me with your suggestions.
The only other suggestion I'd have is to allow sufficient time to catch
participants who may be on vacation over a one or two week period. And
naturally, you'll miss quite a few folks in the summer months here in North
America, so a longer period or two separate collection periods with combined
data may yield a higher volume of responses.
Thanks for doing this again, Ray... every year it happens, the data is very
interesting.
