My name is Harvey Alexander and I work in the Records Management area of an international agri-processing company. Although I have been an infrequent contributor to the discussions on this list, I have found it to be a good source for information that has proven to be relevant for my job.

I now find myself in a position to ask for the list's assistance in answering a question asked by my boss. We are in the process of updating our Records Management Program and he wants to know how other corporations handle "notification to employees about legal holds on records destruction".

We have discussed (1) broadcast messages from the Law Department to all locations; (2) specific mailings from the Law Department to top management at all locations; and (3) sending listings of records to be destroyed to the Law Department for their approval.

We are not certain which practice is the most commonly used by other companies.

I will appreciate any help that the group can provide in this area.

Thank you.
