Seems like you need to develop your email retention strategy and technology
solution prior to developing and publishing an email retention policy. I
have worked for 2 companies that had email policies that were developed cart
before the horse...we did not have the tools nor the technology to comply
with the policy.

That said, I would think a company such as MCI would have a subscription to
the Gartner Group (www.gartner.com). Get some access and take a look at
their latest reports on the e-mail archiving market particularly a short
report titled "Magic Quadrant for E-Mail Active-Archiving Market, 2005." I
like Gartner and use them a fair amount.

Since your company is looking at a move to Exchange, you'll find there more
well developed tools for that market than for POP. Only other thing I can
say is be sure and get on board with your IT and Legal folks. Learn lots and
ask tons of questions.

Rock on!
