A long time ago, I learned that IT is a belief system, as are science
and religion, and what they "believe" ("everything that comes out of
a computer is inherently superior to what comes from anything else" )
does not have to be true in any sense that an ordinary person would
accept.  The IT mangers as still the High Priests as they were in the
mainframe days (a request for service was responded to as either
"that can't be done" or "we can't get to you until next year"). The
more things change, the more they remain the same.
