Greetings Everyone,

Reserve your spot now for ARMA Halifax (Canada) Fall Seminar, entitled "Introduction to the Basics of Electronic Records Management:  A Five-Day Workshop" being held in Aikens Room, Public Archives of Nova Scotia building, Halifax, N.S. from October 31 through November 4, 2005.  Deadline for registration is September 7, 2005.

The management of electronic records has become increasingly common in recent years.  Many records management professionals have had to scramble to find the tools and training to adequately cope with this new electronic environment.  ARMA Halifax Chapter is pleased to sponsor "Introduction to the Basics of Electronic Records Management:  A Five-Day Workshop".  This five-day session provides a comprehensive approach to understanding electronic records.  The topics include:  
  a.. The Record Keeping Environment:  Moving from Paper to Electronic Records 
  b.. Legal Issues Related to Managing Electronic Records; Pipeda and Electronic Records 
  c.. Preservation and Media Issues:  Ensuring that Records can be Retrieved over Time 
  d.. An Introduction to Creating and Using Metadata 
  e.. Electronic Records System Design

The two presenters of this workshop are well-known experts in their field:  Wendy Duff and Christine Ardern.  Wendy Duff is an associate professor and Director of Graduate Studies at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Information Studies. She received her PhD from the University of Pittsburgh, and was the project co-ordinator for the University of Pittsburgh Electronic Recordkeeping Project.  Her primary research interests are user studies, metadata, and electronic records.  Ms. Duff is well known and respected in information circles, and has spoken at Dalhousie University's School of Information Management.  Christine Ardern, CRM, FAI has over 25 years experience in establishing and managing records and information management programs in both the private and public sectors.  In 1999 she established her own consulting practice, which specializes in records, information management and archives program design.  Ms. Ardern is a past president of ARMA International, a Fellow of ARMA International, and the most recent recipient of the Emmett Leahy Award.
