There is currently no national or international standard on the life
expectancy of CDs or DVDs. Manufacturers claim life expectancy of
anything from 20 years to 100 years depending on the materials used.
However, independent research conducted about 5 or 6 years ago showed
the average life expectancy of CDs used to house data or music and
actually used for retrieval of info was about 10 years.

Subject: CD's questions

Good Afternoon,

Does any one know the life expectancy of a CD?

Also do CD's need to be stored in a specific environment?

Thanks for any input you may have.
