Hello

There is an ISO standard that deals specifically with optical disks
longevity.

ISO 18927:2002 Imaging materials — Recordable compact disc systems — Method
for estimating the life expectancy based on the effects of temperature and
relative humidity.

There is also an excelent study from CLIR: BYERS, Fred - Care and Handling
of CDs and DVDs. CLIR/NIST. 2003
(http://www.itl.nist.gov/div895/carefordisc/CDandDVDCareandHandlingGuide.pdf
)

Subject: CD's questions

Good Afternoon,

Does any one know the life expectancy of a CD?

Also do CD's need to be stored in a specific environment?

Thanks for any input you may have.
