Roger:
Why is total destruction not sufficient? I run most stuff through the
shredder. Are you trying to re-use the media? In that case, wouldn't the
repeated overwriting in US DOD 5015.2 handle the problem? In olden times
there were bulk erasers for magnetic media, but I am not sure that they are
considered effective enough anymore.

ListServ Members,
I have researched the internet but have been unable to find what I need. I
am hoping that the experience of the ListServ members will prevail.
I am looking for standards for the destruction of CD-ROM, diskettes,
cassettes, DVDs, mag tapes, etc. something other than ..." must be rendered
unreadable". I know that hard drives can be destroyed by
smashing/cutting/drilling holes, etc.
