If lack of revenue hinders publication of a research journal, shouldn't we
be looking at something web-based instead? It's more important at this
stage to encourage all of us to think about doing some research, and a
web-based, peer-reviewed publication vehicle could be a less expensive
option.
Overall, I agree with Sue. Here in Oz we have RM competency standards
recognised nationally, at a level somewhat between school (year 12) and
university. Pretty basic stuff, and if RM is to prosper we dearly need to
go up a notch (or two, or three). The only (maybe I should say 'most')
university-level courses in RM are taught by and developed in
librarianship courses, and we'd really struggle to get recognition that RM
has an intellectual, theoretical component of its own.

These views are mine alone. They may or may not be those of any
previous or present employers or clients. I don't know. If I'd asked
and they'd agreed, I would have signed it "Harry Peck and Co and
Glenn". Or whatever. But I haven't, so I didn't.
