Subject: Re: Somewhat records, somewhat OT: Another Introvert resource

You are right, shyness has to do with temperament and introversion has
to do
with personality, but the two are often quite connected. My shyness is
real
shyness -- panic attacks when confronted with a roomful of people I
don't
know. I was the child who hid under the table when strangers came to the
door and still have a strong desire to do that, though I can usually
talk
myself through it. And that is why I distinguished my extroversion as a
love
of collaboration and advocacy. I would be very careful when recommending
a
certain personality type for a job -- you could be excluding some highly
qualified candidates. It may seem right on the surface, but people are
drawn
to a career for many different reasons including things that may not
have
much to do with our personalities such as timing, location and pay, and
as I
stated before, we are complex creatures and one test does not constitute
a
full evaluation of an individual. I love my job, partially because I am
in
contact with virtually all departments and employees (there's the
collaboration), and I take my advocacy role quite seriously. I also
enjoy
the solitude of my job -- off in my own building working with all that
information right at my fingertips. And I feel a strong creative outlet
in
my work through analysis and problem solving. Of course, maybe Bob
Dalton
had it right -- I'm a Gemini, too, or two, as the case may be. ;)
