Dear List Members,
I want to thank all of those that have responded to my question dealing
with chron files and the differences in opinion between myself and the
Archives. Our Records Management program is still in its infancy and has
been placed within the University Archives as it gets on its feet. While
this has caused some difficulties, it has mostly resulted in interesting
and lively discussions about the roles of Archivists and Records
Managers. We have found that many vital electronic record series have
not been retained in any form so we have decided that the current chron
files will be retained by the archives to ensure a more thorough history
of the top admin offices, but that we may recommend that offices do not
continue to create chron files in an effort to improve their day to day
efficiency.

Again, thank you for taking your time to provide helpful and insightful
advice,
Leslie
