Project Archivist
The State Archives and Records Program, a work unit within the State
Historical Society of Iowa, looks to hire a professional archivist. 

Duties will include:
*	Development of appropriate processing plan for the Office of the
Governor, especially the records related to the Robert D. Ray
administration; securing administrative approval for processing plan;
with guidance from state archivist, identifying records covered by state
statute as being confidential; determining supplies required to process
the records; determining portions of the records in need of intensive
preservation and conservation treatment; preparing a preservation plan
for the records; coordinating proper preservation and conservation
treatments for portions of the records as appropriate; implementing the
processing plan; preparing appropriate finding aids for the records
(both manual and automated).
*	Direct the work of students, interns and volunteers in the
arrangement and preparation of the gubernatorial records for public use.
*	Participate in work unit and agency planning and program
development when appropriate.
*	Provide assistance to work unit reference staff as needed when
reference questions related to the records of the Office of Governor.

Qualifications:  M.A. in history or related field with at least six
semester hours of archives education credits (or a combination of
education and experience to meet minimum criteria for classification)
and two years full-time equivalent experience.  Experience with
government records and government records management as well as archives
automation highly desired. 
  
This is a full-time, temporary (estimated to be 3 years, dependent on
continued legislative funding) position with a appropriate State of Iowa
benefits.  Starting salary: $39,145.60 plus benefits package.
