A little different twist...
For those of you who might be interested, there was an interesting
journal article published in 2001, written by "another" Steve Whittaker
(I know "our" Steve spells his last name differently) that stated that
younger workers actually acquired MORE paper, and faster, than older
workers. In addition, there was little reliance on electronic
collections, especially the web, because of a belief that the
information would not be available when needed.
The reference to the article is: "The Character, Value and Management
of Personal Paper Archives", by Steve Whittaker and Julia Hirschberg.
Published in ACM Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction, Volume 8,
No. 2, June 2001, Pages 150-170.
I was able to order the article through an inter-library loan, you
probably can too.
