That is exactly what happens.  That is the change I was referring to.

I made the comment because the more transfers of data, the more additions.  And each time, there is an opportunity for someone to make changes to the content.

What the court wants to know is what was originally said, to whom, when, was it received, where did it go from there, etc. (regular audit trail stuff).

hmm.
I would expect that the original metadata would remain, with information 
of the move added. 
I guess that's naive of me.
What metadata is actually used from the email, and what changes result 
from moving it?
