Hi Roland:
I just trained myself on MS Sharepoint WSS. It is a great tool for
cataloguing especially for searching. Sharepoint has the ability to
convert information from Excel as metadata. Another great point is that
your satellite office will be able to access this information from
website built just for your employees. Plus, you can archive documents
in the library with the ability to check out and check in documents.
I hope this helps out on your quest.
Linda

Subject: [RM] Project Information Database
We are an engineering/architectural consulting firm. We have a corporate
office in St. Paul, MN with about 350 employees with satellite offices
in MN, WI & IL. I currently use MS-ACCESS to catalog all project
information which includes: Project name, client, when the project was
opened, when it was closed and the locations of each project
correspondence file, specifications, reports, drawings, field/design
files. We currently have about 13,000 archived projects in our database
and we add on average 100 projects to that database every year. I'm
looking for software that can accommodate our growth of archived
projects, easily used throughout or entire organization and can be
versatile in security to groups & individuals. Any information on what
types of software you are using to catalog information or products that
you've heard about that can do what we're looking for would be great.
Thanks in advance.
