POSITION: Research Information Associate * Records
Management Specialist, #06-203

SALARY: $30,000 - $40,000

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
This position is located at the Energy & Environmental Research
Center (EERC), an international leader in energy and environmental
research. As a member of the Library and Information Services group,
the Records Management Specialist supports key business functions
at the EERC and reports to the Manager of Library and Information
Services. The Records Management Specialist is primarily responsible
for the organization's centralized file system. This individual must

possess general knowledge of records management techniques,
principles, and procedures used in retrieval, storage, and disposal of
records in paper and electronic formats and be knowledgeable 
regarding current trends in records and information management
technology. The Records Management Specialist responds to a variety
of requests for information and must exercise good judgment and
discretion in dealing with confidential or proprietary information.
This
individual maintains logs and other records controls to assure
tracking
of files. The Records Management Specialist, in conjunction with
Contracts staff, utilizes specially designed tracking software to make
sure that all reports and other contractual obligations are met and
deposited in Central Files. This individual is also responsible for
updating and maintaining the organization's publication list,
researchers' resumes, and other duties as assigned. This individual
must be able to work effectively with employees at all levels and be
able
to work both individually and as part of a team. The position is
detail-
oriented and requires strong interpersonal, investigative, research,
time
management, and presentation skills. The position may require travel.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:
Requires a bachelor's degree in records information management and a
minimum of one years experience or equivalent training and experience.
Requires proficiency in the Microsoft Windows and Office software
environment. Must be able to demonstrate strong customer service,
communication, team work, initiative and self management,
accountability, and adaptability. Preference will be given to
candidates
with experience in developing records retention and disposition
schedules and knowledge of computerized records systems and their
component hardware and software.
