I'd like to express my thanks to all of the ARMA members who voted in
the election.

The number of voters, interestingly, is pretty much on par with
Conference attendance and the number of members who belong to the ARMA
Forum (and not far off the RECMGMT-L membership rolls if you exclude
the duplicate addresses here).

There is clearly a core bloc of ARMA members who are very active
participants in the association and in discussions about records
management. I'm dismayed to some extent that there isn't greater
participation across the board in all of these things, but I also
recognize the limitations that many people may feel that they have
(both personally and professionally).

If you are an ARMA member and didn't vote, I think it would be helpful
for you to communicate directly to the Board or the Election Management
Committee and let them know why you didn't vote -- if there is some way
that the process can be enhanced or modified to make it work for you.

As in previous years, every vote counts. We once again had one race
decided by very few votes. This election is one where you can always be
assured that your vote will count. So if you didn't vote because you
felt that the election was already decided or that your vote didn't
matter, I would argue that you could have made a difference.

Thanks again to all who voted in the election and to all of those who
have sent congratulatory messages my way. Thanks also to the candidates
who were not fortunate enough to win election. I look forward to seeing
you all take roles on the Board in the future or to continue to
participate in ARMA International. You're all winners for stepping up
and putting yourselves in the race.

Patrick Cunningham, CRM
ARMA International Treasurer-elect
