One of the best parts about belonging to RECMGMT-L is how folks are
willing to share with others. But when someone offers to share with the
list how should one request the item?

Should one just hit the reply button and send a message of "please may
I have a copy?" that gets sent out to 2000+ subscribers? Or should one
send their request directly to the individual who made the offer?

The preferred method (and the one that keeps traffic on the list to a
minimum) is to send the request directly to the individual. And when
you do send that request you might want to adjust the subject line so
that it reads like this

Private reply was <original subject> this way the individual receiving
knows it is not coming from the list.

But there is even a better method. Several years back PatC created a
Yahoo group called recmgmt-ot to siphon away from the list off-topic
threads that threatened to drown the list. For new folks there were
discussions about BBQ - beef versus pork, recipe sharing you name it.
the noise to signal ratio was not 5 by 5 for sure.

not much 'talking' takes place on recmgmt-ot these days but it is the
place where one can go and post something that want to share with
others.

To join the recmgmt-ot group just go here

http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/recmgmt_ot/

and just click on the button labelled "join this group" but to access
the page itself you will need a Yahoo ID.

so if you want to share with the group . just post your document to
recmgmt-ot and notify the list that you've done so.
