I recently read one of Frank Upward's papers on the continuum model as a
paradigm for recordkeeping and archiving processes
(www.sims.monash.edu.au/research/rcrg/publications/Frank%20U%20RMJ%202001.pdf).

It seemed to me that he was advocating a more integrated approach between
records managers and archivists regarding how to collect and preserve
evidentiary information, especially now that electronic data is
challenging what it means to "create" a record and where that record
exists in time and space. We might need to turn to metadata to help keep
track of how an electronic record is used, by whom, and how it relates to
other records, all of which represent evidence of interest not only to
Archivists.
