Mike, I do not doubt that you (and other attendees) were told at a PRISM
conference that it would take 9 years hard copy storage to match the
cost of scanning. Nevertheless I have yet to see a box of paper records
that could be prepped, scanned, QC'd, indexed, and validated for $27 per
box. 10 to 15 times that $$ figure is more realistic.

I did not mention ROI and cost/savings of accessing info at the PC;
others have done that.

By the way, I hate paper.

Best regards, Steve

A side note: fresh back from a PRISM International conference (trade
association for commercial storage/destruction of records). One
panelist, long in the business, did some calculations and found that
in comparing $ .25 per box per month storage to scanning the
contents of that same box, it would take 9 years of storage to match
the cost of scanning. Believe it--or not.
