I'm with you Pat. I can't tell you how many times in recent years that I have been at non-ARMA venues and ARMA is referred to as "The American Records Management Association". I politely correct. :)
I believe HQ and the Board do need to clarify our branding.
Sincerely,
John Frost, CRM

I still revert to "Association of Records Managers and Administrators"
myself if my lame attempts to say "information management professionals"
(which we used 1999-2001 - maybe longer) still leave the other person with a
blank stare.

Thank you Bill. I find it funny that when I'm asked what ARMA stands for I
still have to say it is an association of
records managers and administrators. Then I go into further detail with
something along the line of what Jesse said if
they have additional questions. ARMA by itself isn't a word in my
dictionary.

Steve, the question isn't about a tag line. It is the meaning of the
association name. If it is official that "Association of Records Managers
and
Administrators" is no longer applicable, then I'd like to hear about it.
ARMA, International is great but we need clarification when someone asks
what is the organizational meaning of ARMA without reciting a paragraph
explanation basis for ARMA. Not making a major issue but it should be
clear and well
publicized so that we are properly identified in articles and
presentations.

Have a fun weekend.
