<Hello all you very smart people,
<I'm looking for some sample policies re. employer/employee rights to
<thoughts, inventions (specifically in-house software development)
<created while employed (in my case by local government). I did a Google
<search and also a listserv search, but I must not be using the right
<keywords. If you have such a policy you'd be willing to share, please
<forward it, and I'll be forever grateful (at least until tomorrow)!

Try searching on the terms "work-for-hire" or "work-for-hire doctrine" --
Work for hire is the legal term for work that is done on someone else's dime
and is owned by them. There must be mountains of boilerplate contract
language out there on the topic. If not, you can crib it from almost any
independent contractor agreement you can find.
