I found the MiFID regulatory directive to be quite interesting http://www.fsa.gov.uk/Pages/About/What/International/EU/fsap/mifid/index.shtml.  

An integral component of this directive is record-keeping, particularly in relation to transactions undertaken for clients.   I know this is a EU directive, but it appears to be as significant and wide ranging as SOX. Countries outside of the EU will have to be in tune with this new directive when dealing with European firms.
