Ah STYX. One of the first big rock concerts of my youth. I remember it
well. I got my drivers license the day The Grand Illusion was released
(7/7/77). Kansas will be playing at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA next
week. Another of the major bands of that time in my life.

Yes Brian it brings back memories. And the 60s. I remember most of them.
I was too young to be doing much that would have made me forget them.

Woodstock - Close by (a cabin in Upstate New York for summer vacation) but
not quite there that week.

Have a good weekend all.

Steve, et.al.,

Just saw a STYX concert during my recent visit of California Chapters in
June at the San Diego County fair...

STYX sounded great even without Dennis DeYoung...Personally, it was a
"kick" to see 40-50 year old people rocking in the audience, rushing the
stage, holding up their lighters (Come Sail Away) and smelling the
pungent odor of pakalolo in the crowd...

Sure brought back memories...

Steve,
I just have to know....are all these bands really still around??? I
think it is amazing that all these geezers are continuing to
perform....it is pretty neat, but sometimes surprising in the "oh, is he
still alive?' category. So no Bobby Darin or Otis Redding or Wilson
Pickett - may they rest in rock and roll heaven. I am glad to see that
Elvis WAS able to make it!!

I don't know if I actually WANT to see how Herman of the Hermits looks
nowadays. A couple of years ago the Steve Miller Band performed here in
Austin and although the music still sounded great, every time I looked
up and saw him, it gave me a start. I wondered what some of the kids
thought who never saw him as a young man and could only see what
appeared to be their grandpa up there rocking out!!

I don't think the Detroit Wheels are still around as a band. Mitch was
backed up by Gary U.S. Bonds' band.

Good show, he still rocks big time (Sock It To Me Baby).

They are expecting 700,000 visitors here for Hot August Nights this
year.

Some other bands here for the events are:

Mitch Ryder
Gary U.S. Bonds
Gary Puckett
Ronny & The Classics
Johnny Rivers
Hermans Hermits
America
The Beach Boys
Tommy James
The Temptations
Village People
Li'l Elmo & The Cosmos
Route 66
Shake, Rattle, & Roll
Johnny Baron & The Bel Aires
The Method
Guitar Woody & The Boilers
Sonny Turner
Tony Vee
Little Anthony & The Imperials
PaPa Do Run Run
L.A. Party Dolls
Left of Center
Papa Clutch & The Shifters
Rick Hayes & American Steel
Johnny Slick & The Cheaters
Lonnie & The Lugnuts
Night Flight
Jimmy & The Jets
Connie & The Corvettes
Scott Marshall & Terry Scott
Flashback
Michael Clark Project
Let The Good Times Roll
Delta Cats
Elvis Presley (Johnny Baron as Elvis)

Mitch Ryder....oh my gosh....I actually saw him when he was "hot" back
in the late sixties....can't believe he is still kicking...but
then....so am I!!! Is he still with the "Detroit Wheels"?

Devil with the blue dress, blue dress, devil with the blue dress
on....whew!!"

Good! We should not be messing with the paper media anyway.

I hate paper.

We are in the middle of the annual week-long Hot August Nights event
here in the Reno, NV area; hot rods, poodle skirts, good music...;
good
times. Mitch Ryder kicked some butt last night at one of the many
music
venues; Devil w/a Blue Dress On/Good Golly Miss Molly; Little Latin
Lupe
Lu; Sock It To Me; and many others. He may be gray around the edges
and
a little long in the tooth but he can still belt them out just like
1965.
