We also use microfilm at our organization.  Although the group has been
downsized, I still feel it is a viable solution to disposing of paper
documents.  We maintain many records series for, in our case, the life
of a plant plus 10 years or plus 40 years in the case of a nuclear
plant, so for us it is a very reliable way to maintain these records
"cheap".

We refer to the documents regularly and, as stated previously, you can
read it with a flashlight if necessary.
