I have reviewed the entire program. You can request a preview copy from
ARMA that is the entire program and the Participants Workbook and
Facilitators Guide for Part One. You just have to sign a release saying
that if you don't return it by a certain date (you get a month to review
it), you buy it for $750. Call Jeff Randolph at 913-217-6016 or email at

I thought it was a good program ... good overview of material and slick
production quality. But it is not designed to be totally stand alone. It
is pretty generic and is set up so that after each module there is a
point-by-point summary, then you can present your company's policies and
rules and have some discussion. You can present the program in person
and just tote the one DVD around or you can deploy it via your company
intranet or other web-based vehicle. The site licensing costs are based
on the number of employees.

The modules are:

Introduction
Part 1: The Importance of Records Management (15 min)

Part 2: Records and Information Management Fundamentals (15 min)
Fundamental 1: Some Information Must Be Managed in a Special Way
Fundamental 2: Information Must be Consistently Managed
Fundamental 3: Records and Info Management is Driven by Legal &
Business Needs

Part 3: Rules for Legal Preservation and Discovery (15 min)
     The Discovery Process
Rule 1: The Rules Change in the Face of Discovery
Rule 2: The Obligation to Preserve Information Begins Early On
Rule 3: Information Must Be Protected During Legal Preservation &
Discovery
Rule 4: Understand & Comply with your Legal Preservation &
Discovery Responsibility
Rule 5: If in Doubt, Preserve It

Part 4: The Unique Challenges of Managing Electronic Records (15 min)
Rule 1: Electronic Records Have Unique Characteristics and Must Be
Managed Accordingly
(Note - they do not say they are treated any differently
retention-wise, but just that they present some unique challenges)
Rule 2: Take Responsibility for Managing the Electronic Records You
Create & Receive
Rule 3: Be Professional When Creating Electronic Records
(this is a caveat on being careful with what you put in emails)
Rule 4: Comply with Policies Regarding Electronic Records

Part 5: Conclusion (5 min) (this is a point-by-point summary of all the
parts, in essence, reading off the above list)

If you go to the ARMA Leadership Resources page (www.arma.org/lr) click
on Program Resources, then Important Downloads (in the small box in the
upper right corner), ARMA has created a PowerPoint and some collateral
material so that chapters can preview a portion of the DVD at a chapter
meeting. OCARMA will be doing this for our September meeting.
