Working Title: Records Analyst

Salary Range: Starting salary is $14.77/hour (Step 41-Step 58)

Position Availability: Public Recruitment

     Job characteristics: Incumbents in this job provide records
management services to government agencies including identification,
description, appraisal, scheduling and classification of records. Assist
agencies in establishing records management systems in accordance with
State laws and policies. Serve as a liaison/ problem solver between
government agencies and the State Archives. Specific responsibilities
also include the ability to train agency records officers and others
regarding all aspects of records management, as well as the Government
Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA). Must be able to help in the
creation of new and innovative training and reference materials for
agencies. Skills should include the ability to apply modern archives and
records management techniques; ability to efficiently plan and complete
research projects; communicate effectively orally and in writing;
provide good customer service; ability to analyze agency records and
operations; determine classification of documents and select appropriate
records retentions; skills in word processing, PowerPoint; experience
with databases and data entry.

     Tasks: Coordinates and/or acts as a liaison between agency or work
unit and other agencies, work units, organizations, suppliers, etc. 
Acts as a resource to provide information or determine the most
effective way of meeting the needs of management, staff, clients or
customers.  Classifies and/or catalogues artifacts, collections or
library materials, etc.  Provides technical assistance on agency issues,
services, program(s), and/or computer hardware and software, etc.

     Qualifications (includes knowledge, skills, and abilities required
upon entry into position and trainable after entry into position):
Knowledge of or Skills/Ability to principles, theories, and practices of
archiving; deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact,
and professionalism; speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen
to, and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally; develop
and/or implement new policies/procedures/standards and/or
rules/regulations; laws governing access to public and private records
(Government Records Access and Management Act); research methods,
techniques, and/or sources of information; principles, theories, and
practices of records management; principles theories and practices of
micrographic technology; use automated software applications;
communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing;
read and understand information presented in writing.

    Additional Preference: Preference may be given to those with a
B.A.or M.A. in history or related field with formal archival or records
management training or experience.

   Physical Requirements: Moderate 

   Working Conditions: Risks found in the typical office setting, which
is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office
equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
