This sort of software also raises some interesting staffing issues.
What's to stop someone sending harassing, or explicit emails to other
staff. Someone complains to management that they are being harassed or
bullied, but where's the proof?

There's been a lot of talk lately about leaking of corporate
information. Surely this makes it even easier, having no sort of audit
trail.

This sort of software is a recordkeeping nightmare (much like
Microsoft's Information Rights Management "this document/email will
self-destruct is x number of days" option). As someone said in an
earlier posting, most users have little idea of what a corporate record
is anyway. When crunch time comes and records can't be produced,
employees will just turn around and say "well the company make this
software available, so I just use it" (regardless of whether they were
told of the software's lack of recordkeeping functionality or not).

Regards from down-under.

As has already been mentioned by Ray Cunningham and others, it's not
terribly difficult to get a screenshot using any of a number of tools
(I use
Paint Shop Pro 7(!) and SnagIt), so you could save it.

More importantly, I'm trying to think of how the cross-examine would
look
when the CXO - or RM - or legal - is being asked about an email-ish
tool
that is expressly designed to be recordless: "VaporStream is the
perfect for
anyone who wants a truly open and collaborative communication
environment.
You are now free to say what you want or offer an opinion without it
coming
back, with VaporStream there is no permanent record....When you need a
documented history, use e-mail; when you don't, use VaporStream."

I was also turned off by the sizzle-to-steak ratio on the website. But
I did
note that they quote both Nancy Flynn of the ePolicy Institute and
Michael
Osterman of Osterman Research, both of whom I respect as email
industry
analysts. I'll probably take the thing for a test drive and then post
a
review about it on my blog.

Hrm......

A co-worker sent this to me. I've heard of this technology before but
this
is the first time I've been to a site to read the vendor blurb.
Any comments?
