I agree with your assessment, Blake. It would seem that maintaining the
extract file as a record would reduce potential disputes over records
integrity. Another option is to ensure the records keeping integrity of
the data system - for example, that it can produce the same result every
time over the life cycle of the record. I can't say whether this is
possible or not - my own sense is that it is probably more difficult to
prove/achieve than maintaining the extract files as separate evidence of
transactions.
