It might also be helpful to have an index of the documents that are on
the disk in the file so that the atty can easily see what's there, so as
to even know if s/he needs it this time. Perhaps you can even request
the client create this simple index and include it on the disk as a Word
doc, text file or PDF so that all you have to do is print it.

This may not be the solution you are looking for, but an alternative is
to (at least while the files are on-site) remove the CDs from the files,
place a label on the file jacket noting the alternative location within
the file room, and store the CDs in a more appropriate housing system
within the file room.
