The City of Sacramento is seeking a professional and qualified candidate
for a newly created Records Manager position. This position will manage
a comprehensive citywide records management program. The program is
currently in its foundational stages with an established records
retention schedule and a variety of procedures and practices in place.
The Records Manager will play a key role on the "Implementation Team" of
a newly procured agency-wide electronic content management system (ECM).
The Records Manager will enter into the ECM project at its infancy, and
will have the unique opportunity of learning the system from the ground
up. Inclusion into the ECM project at this important time will ensure
that records management protocols are appropriately and successfully
integrated into the system.
The ideal candidate will be an organized and motivated professional who
works independently, is a strong problem solver, and is adept at
building collaborative relationships. Essential job duties include
developing policies and procedures associated with an agency-wide
records management program in accordance with ARMA and AIIM standards;
participating on the ECM project team; providing direction to and
collaborating with department records coordinators on all aspects of the
program; solving records management challenges using standard or
electronic measures; ensuring citywide compliance with established
procedures; maintaining and updating records retention schedules;
ensuring proper disposition of records scheduled for destruction;
collaborating with City Archives to preserve records of historical
significance; directing and training personnel; and directly and
indirectly supervising staff.
