I would have to agree with Larry that this is a pretty narrow
definition. My only reason for commenting is to recommend caution on how
"business process" is defined. Often the definition is limited to those
elements of records keeping pertinent to the creation and active use of
records, while ignoring longer term needs that may crop up during a
record's inactive phase (for example, audits, requests for information,
legal issues, etc...). Its important to understand potential
stakeholders when defining records. The classic retention review of
administrative, fiscal, legal, and historic needs does just that. In
some minds, "business process" does not extend beyond a particular
stakeholder's immediate administrative need.
