While it may be true of some, I certainly would not assume that someone
using a personal email address was doing it for this reason.  In the
past, I have used an alternative email address because it was what I had
available at the time.  I use my work address when I am at work, my home
address when I am at home, and my hotmail address when I am off
somewhere else. 

It has nothing to do with retribution, it has everything to do with
practicality.
