<Now I have been tasked to co- author a written policy for our firm
concerning the retention of the films. You see during my search I
noticed
documents of varying retention periods ( from 60 years ago to permanent)
and called this to the attention of our firm's attorney. Has anyone
been involved with a project like this? Any thoughts on the most
efficient way to proceed?>

I figured you'd get some replies but I haven't seen any. If you work
for a law firm, I'm assuming all the files for each client matter are
normally on consecutive frames. Options I can think of:

- Image the microfilm so you can destroy the films and begin destroying
the images on schedule.

- Split the films where the retention periods change so you can begin
destroying them on schedule.

- Destroy each roll as the longest retention period of its contents
expires, meaning you'll be stuck retaining some rolls permanently that
would contain some frames that should be destroyed.
