There are numerous safes that are fireproof & waterproof. A friend of
mine just bought one. I don't want to promote the product here but you
can google "fireproof and waterproof safes". That way, you'll have
numerous ideas without having to get info from someone lurking on the
list that is in sales.

Subject: Fireproof File Cabinet

Hello everyone, I've been away from the listserv for the past couple of
years, but am now returning. I am the Records Manager for the law firm
of Dickstein Shapiro in Washington, DC. A request was recently made by
one of our groups at the firm to purchase a fire proof file cabinet for
the storage of small quantities of hardcopy vital records that require
frequent access. We are in a new facility with pretty high-tech
fire/smoke detection and sprinkler systems.

Two questions:

1. Theoretically, nothing is ever going to get "torched" before it is
soaked, correct?
2. Are the fire proof safes also protected against water, if so are
there any specs available to assist with selecting the proper cabinet?

Thanks for your time.
