one need only look to past RAIN postings containing stories about lost
computer tapes. Virtually all of the headlines and the stories
themselves pointed the finger of blame at the customer and not at the
vendor. And on top of that the vendor piles on by blaming the customer
for not encrypting the data contained on the tapes.

The vendors need to be more forthcoming with their customers about
their practices and pricing. And don't say "well we review our
policies and procedures with our customers when they sign the
contract." that ain't enough

and besides it does no good to refer to records managers as "boxheads"
as some folks in the industry have. Treat your customer with respect.

Don't advertise that your in the information protection business then
fight against the development of standards that are truly designed to
protect standards.
