I use clear plastic packing tape to seal the boxes, then I use a sharpie
to write my initials on the tape. I always write my initials in such a
way that they go off the edge of the tape onto the box itself. This
allows me to see at a glance if any boxes have been tampered with. I do
this with any boxes that might contain sensitive material of any sort.
In my RIM database (Versatile Enterprise), I have added a checkbox to
show that this is a sealed box. Periodically, I pull a random sealed
box back just to look at the tape.

Hope this helps,
David

Subject: [RM] How are you securing offsite storage boxes?

Good afternoon,

We need to send some HR records to offsite storage and I'm just
wondering how you are securing boxes that go offsite? Are you taping
them closed? If so, what kind of tape are you using? Anyone using
plastic ties to secure boxes? Any other methods being used?

Thanks.

Earl
