And you work the hours you want: I typically start at 6:30 AM, take a long
(90 min or 2 hour) lunch break (barring any critical projects that need my
attention) and usually knock off around 5:00. Most days work more than 8
hours and am more efficient with few interruptions. If I have a project
that requires additional time, I can do that at the wee hours. Keep
expenses down by hunting fridge for lunch and snacks.
The down side? Colleagues are in another state/time zone; don't always get
in the loop with office changes.

yeah that guy resembles someone i know ;-)
as someone who works for a very very big blue company over half our
employees are home officed. Takes a certain amount of discipline. As
the blogger noted the commute is greatly shortened, you have a key to
the executive washroom (mine includes a shower). I'm lucky in that I
have two doors (an interior and an exterior) and a window.
If I need to rearrange the office layout I don't need to call the
facilities management team (as I are it) , I just do it.
