Director of Digital Information Strategy 

The Provost of Dartmouth College seeks a Director of Digital Information Strategy to lead the Dartmouth Digital Information Initiative (D2I) in the development of a strategic plan that articulates and promotes an institutional digital information methodology. This is a four year term position from the date of hire.

Major Responsibilities 

  *  Chairs the D2I Steering Committee, a group of senior administrators including the Vice Provost for Research, the Dean of Libraries and the Vice President of Information Technology
  *  Leads the development of the strategic plan that will identify and articulate the major priorities of the institution for developing, implementing and supporting the infrastructure for the creation, storage, retention and management of digital information
  *  Leads the development of appropriate institutional standards and policies for digital information creation, storage, retention and management
  *  Serves as the project manager for D2I demonstration projects
  *  Establishes and maintains close and effective working relationships with senior officers, internal and external program team members, relevant faculty committees and departments across campus
  *  In conjunction with counterparts at Duke University, researches best practices and the state of the industry
  *  Communicates regularly with campus constituents about the program and its status
  *  Develops methodologies for implementation of the plan, including strategies for supporting culture change
  *  Establishes metrics and measures of program success
  *  Documents the planning and implementation processes, with a goal of sharing lessons learned and best practices with other higher education institutions

Position Requirements

Qualifications and Experience
  *  Management skills and ability to manage diverse participants 
  *  Excellent written and oral communication skills
  *  Tact and diplomacy and the ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality and discretion.
  *  Strong service orientation
  *  Demonstrated skill in data and systems analysis
  *  High degree of judgment, initiative and the ability to work independently
  *  Seven to ten years of relevant experience in effective project management in the digital information arena
  *  Experience in guiding an organization through complex change processes, particularly in the area of digital information management
  *  Experience in oversight of complex projects with both technical and cultural change components
  *  Experience in higher education preferred 
  *  Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills needed to bring resources to a project and motivate teams of people toward common goals
  *  Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population

Education
  *  Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  *  Master's degree preferred.
  *  Project Management certification is preferred
