To take someone's work without paying them is not right regardless of the economic climate.

I may be wrong but, sharing isn't an infringement, is it? I mean, if you make nothing from it and just provide someone a copy. I was under the impression you had to benefit from it some way before it was any sort of violation. Could someone clarify that for me?

Knowledge is of two kinds: we know a subject ourselves, or we know where we can find information upon it.

fisrt of all, my name is Joe Vial and I have on more than one ocassion shared information with other members.
I don't need a lecture on violation of copyright infringement and quoting Ben Franklin was a little estreme. You could have just said, I am not willing to share this information.
As a professional, I understand your posiytion, but you have been offensive in your response.
I suggest you get over you cocky attitude and try to be more professional in your response to anyone seeking assistance or advice.

The ISO standards are governed by copyright and licensing. "Sharing" a
copy would violate those terms and could result in legal sanctions against the
violator. I would suggest that there are other means to obtain the standard,
including the use of that nearly forgotten insitution, the library. I suspect
that there is a library somewhere with a paper copy of the Standard that can be
sent to you through Inter-Library Loan.
And, "Joe", since you are not using your full name and your email
address is not tied to an organization, I suspect that most folks will have some
difficulty wanting to share a publication with someone they have never heard of
before.
