Well, Bozeman Montana may be thinking about changing it's name to BOZO
Montana after this fiasco:

It appears the City was requesting, along with information to perform a
credit check, passwords form your Internet Places of Presence to do a little
research on who you were in your cyber life prior to hiring someone. Only
took about a week or so for this to sort of blow up in someone's face, but...

This is simply a case of overt checking and asking for your assistance in
doing it. For the past few years, many employers are hiring firms to do
targeted cyber background checks on prospective employees to see what they
can find out about their habits and actions outside of the workplace prior
to extending employment offers. And in addition, some are using targeted
searches to fill vacancies by seeking out potential candidates who match
profiles of staffers they want to hire based on blog posts and other sources
of information.

Another recent development is the searching for an employer's name or
critical projects they may be working on and seeing if employees are
"talking out of Church" about work and subsequent counseling or discussions,
even in some cases leading to terminations due to improper information sharing.

Is Big Brother watching? Ohyeahyoubetcha...
