I think my comments may have misconstrued.

As with all things there is a time and place for these systems.  I have 
never been one to "back away" from developing an effective RIM program 
within our organization.  As a matter of fact, I am in the midst of 
implementing a content management system.   If you've gone down that road, 
you know how difficult it can be. 

However, these are called social networking systems.  Is there a place for 
these in the workplace?  How "social" should we be in our networking with 
clients and peers?  That would depend upon the job you're in, the 
relationships that need to be developed and the needs of those who you are 
interacting with.  If I sold product X, these systems would be very 
valuable to my work.  Personally, in my job within our government office, 
I see little need.  In a state run organization, such as Wyoming,  I 
question the need for social networking systems.  I am also showing my age 
as many young people live their lives according to these systems. 

Just to keep this ball rolling, I have not seen tools to help manage 
records for  these type of systems.  Correct me if I'm wrong.  I would 
suggest that once these tools are developed, RIM and IT professionals will 
throng to them.
