So to everyone who has weighed in, and to those of you who haven't but are
thinking the same thoughts, some additional food for thought:

- How would your perspective change if you were made aware of
enterprise-friendly versions of those systems? In other words, you can take
Twitter's capabilities and install on a server in your data center. No
communications ever leave your network.
- How would your perspective change if these tools were called, say,
enterprise collaboration rather than social media or social networking?
- How would your perspective change if you knew you could readily and easily
keep any changes to, say, FB status or Tweets and keep those changes inside
your firewall?
- How would your perspective change if your ECM vendor, such as Open Text or
Oracle, announced the availability of a "microblogging" module? (Twitter,
but not twitter.com)

With the exception of the second, all of these are true today. Discuss.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of myself and no other company,
organization, association, entity, or board of directors,

jesse
