So, last week I quipped that I would use my extra hour of the daylight savings time changeover to read Dan Brown's new book, The Lost Symbol. Turns out that I had to pick up my son at a Halloween party Saturday at midnight, and upon returning home was not sleepy, and so spent that very hour actually reading the book. If that weren't serendipitous enough, I had the good fortune to read the following paragraph in that book during that hour:

"Both of her lab's holographic drives were synchronized and identical - serving as redundant backups to safeguard identical copies of her work. Most backup protocols advocated a secondary backup system off-site in case of earthquake, fire, or theft, but Katherine and her brother agreed that secrecy was paramount; once this data left the building to an off-site server, they could no longer be certain it would stay private." (page 70).

Now, Larry M., you've been holding out on us. You didn't tell us you worked as an advisor to Dan Brown on his latest book. I suppose you are going to be coy and say "Oh, he must of just been reading my listserv posts about cloud computing."
